In 2013, RMH began a rapid growth trajectory, and increased the number of locations from 40 to more than 120 in just 12 months. In the midst of this growth, RMH faced a new challenge: How to engage and retain its staff of 9,000 hourly employees. Employee turnover in the restaurant/food service industry is typically very high and RMH knew how important retaining its employees was to the health and profitability of its business. In order to update its approach to employee retention, RMH determined it needed a new solution and began exploring the idea of incorporating gamification. Early results in June 2014 showed a solid reduction in employee turnover.
